Title: Receptionist

Hours: Not to exceed 20 hours weekly, 6 months or less Seasonal.

Pay: $10.00 per hour

Responsible for handling front office reception and administration duties, including greeting guests, answering phones, handling company inquiries, and sorting and distributing mail.

Primary responsibilities:

  •     Greets guests warmly, determines nature of business, or announces visitors to appropriate personnel.

  •     Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of calls, and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department.

  •     Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.

  •     Retrieves messages from voice mail and forwards to appropriate personnel.

  •     Answers questions about organization, classes, programs and facilities and provides callers with location of office for registration purposes.

  • Ensure front office area and conference room is tidy.
  • Route phone calls from people calling in sick to Administrative Assistant or Executive Director, whichever is available.
  • Take payments, write receipts, and file for to appropriate activity or reservation.
  • Email correspondence with staff for inquiries, upcoming events, or repairs.
  • Collect and distribute mail.
  • Perform basic filing and clerical duties.
  •     Sends faxes, and retrieves and routes incoming faxes.

  •     Operates multiline telephone system.

  •     Creates and prints memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents as directed.

  •     Performs other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and collating.

Title: Kayak Shack Aide

Hours: Not to exceed 32 hours weekly, Memorial Day- Labor Day. MUST work all weekends. Schedule is Friday-Sunday with floating day to assist with programs.

Pay: $10.00 per hour


Conduct recreation activities at Riverfront Park. This position is intended to provide Riverfront Park with its own advocate, an individual who will dedicate their summer to learning about the ecological, educational and recreational opportunities within the park, including the trail and the river. The KS employee needs to be self-motivated and comfortable working with little supervision.


Must be age 18 or over, some college experience preferred. Must be comfortable working outdoors in heat and wind, able to lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs) and have an interest in parks and recreation. Must be able to work independently, with little direct supervision.

Language skills: Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and manuals. Ability to write clear reports and receipts. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or other staff.

Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide all units of measure. Ability to make correct change.

This position reports directly to: Program Coordinator

Responsibilities include:


It is the duty of the KSRPR employee to keep Riverfront Park looking presentable by attending to the maintenance details which the crew does not have time for.

  • Daily litter patrol throughout the entire park and waterfront area. Daily weeding and raking of green spaces, including the parking lot islands. Maintenance of the Kayak Shack by sweeping, cleaning and painting as needed. Sweeping sidewalks. Sweeping the bathrooms and alerting the parks crew to any immediate concerns.

Rental Customer Service:

It is the duty of the KSRPR employee to provide the general public with access to kayak and bike rentals in a friendly and helpful manner.

  • Promoting the Kayak Shack by explaining the rental procedure to park visitors and answering their questions. Keeping accurate records of daily rentals by clearly writing receipts. Assisting customers with transport of kayaks to the river. Sharing knowledge of the river and kayaking skills with customers. Maintaining bikes and kayaks in proper working order; ordering and installing replacement parts as needed. Promoting the rentals in a creative way, through marketing.
